27 APR 10 letter

Dear Family,

It was another fabulous week here in Visakhapatnam. There were a lot of things that happened though and I am glad to say that I made it out alive.

We found a nice family the other week. It was a family that we had contacted about a month ago, but just had not been able to meet. Finally, on Saturday we were able to take Vinay (a member) with us. We sat down and taught the mother and her two sons. One of them is seriously disabled and he is really cool. She was very humble, they are hindu but she loves Jesus Christ. We taught her the first lesson and at the end we asked her how she felt about it. She said “I want to follow the gospel of God.” I have never heard that response so quickly in the first appointment. She is prepared, but her husband is the one we are having trouble with. He is not so interested and there is little chance of her progressing without him. So we are working on getting some people over there to help.

Oh yeah, Padma was baptized this week! It was a sweet service. We held it after the district conference here. This past Sunday was the FIRST EVER Visak district conference. That includes the 3 branches here, 2 in Rajahmundry, and 1 in Kakinada. It was broadcast from here to those other places. President was so happy about it and he should have been. The members here are doing a great job. The district president is an all star, his name is President Ratnam and he does a good job. He joined the church 8 years ago and at that time he didn’t even know English. But if you were to meet him now, you would never know that. He has progressed so much, not only in English but leadership also. His life is an evidence that the gospel really can change every thing. I am completely convinced that true disciples of Christ are blessed in every aspect of their lives. Anyway, love you all and hope you have a good week!
